Learn More About – Yvette Garza Lopez
Tell us a little about your background.
I was born and raised in Michigan. I lived most of my childhood in Detroit and the suburbs of D-town, then the majority of my young adulthood in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!). I also lived in Grand Rapids for a bit before moving to FL in 2015.
What are your key accomplishments in your field/ on the job?
Key accomplishments for me have been the growth and learning in the Life and Health industry. I am licensed to specialize in helping employers communicate their benefits programs to their employees. I find fulfillment in helping others navigate the crazy world of healthcare.
Why did you choose to work in this industry?
Initially, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry. What drew me to the insurance side of things was the crazy costs of medications – I wanted to know what went into those costs and what I could do to help change the process, or at the very least, help educate others so that they aren’t blindsided by these outrageous expenses. I haven’t been able to change much, but I won’t stop trying!
I approach every situation as if I am the one in the customer’s shoes. We’ve all been customers ourselves, right? So it’s simple: you treat others how you’d want to be treated.
